Front Door/Back Door Meme for February

No matter what the time of year, how lucky I am to look out over this expanse of nature. Yesterday morning, after the fresh snowfall is one of my favorite winter scenes. The snow crystals sparkle in their newness as the early sunlight reflects on the peaks and valleys of the rutted landscape, creating a fairyland of icy cold beauty. We recently loosened the adirondack chairs from their frozen spots further up the hill to move them into the late winter sun so we can sit and enjoy watching the Labs, as they race tirelessly after various assortments of tennis balls, jolly balls and deflated chewed up basketballs. The distant pond hardly looks different than the field as it lies frozen beneath the layers of winter.

The secluded back yard sits quietly waiting for more activity come Spring. The makeshift spaced picket fence propped up, mixed with green snow fencing, to divide the entrance to the area. A necessity of late for my naughty little Glory, who is determined to make her way to this forbidden doggy area to eat the fallen rotting crab apples, a delectable frozen winter treat that tempts her time and time again. I have to say that the fencing has not been effective, since she is quite the Houdini, and is able to find ways to defy our efforts time and time again. Snow sits heavy on the evergreens' branches, like icing on cake, trimming them in a contrast of green and white. The huge old sugar maple on the left, beautiful even in its winter nakedness. The snow covered wall behind, a reminder of what once was, the only remants of where part of this old house once sat when it was first built over two hundred years ago. Now the front is the back and after the house was moved in the 80's, we enjoy the pond view instead of the reverse.
We feel lucky every day to look out over this scene, no matter what the season!

Very lovely Cheryl! You have wonderful views all around. I like the thought of seeing you in those chairs on a snowy day, watching the dogs.
