Our thoughts ebb and flow like the tide. I write to preserve those moments so they are not washed away with the grains of sand on life's beach.

New Year and New Beginnings
"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day." Edith Lovejoy Pierce

Ice cold breeze at the top of wallpapered stairs
echoes of songs sung to those for whom she cared
In the distance a train whistle rises and twists through the house
like a flickering candle our lives can quickly go out
It's Lasting impressions I will always hold true
For it was her words that once said "It's how you do it, not what you do!"
The many different paths that one may choose to take
All somehow twist and turn and lead us to our fate
Times like these make us all ponder our own inevitable fall
Is it truly better to have loved and lost, then to never love at all
Think what you may because what remains in hindsight
Is we have all been given by them the opportunity of life.
Steve,
Well put and now I am waiting for the notes so it may be a song.
Nice Joh.
