Small Miracles

Love this pair of earrings. I wear them often. But one of the hazards of all the outer wear of Winter is that I inevitably lose one of a pair....yes, even with earring guards on them. Between hats and scarves, neck warmers, with snuggy knits and fleece, they are prime targets for getting caught and I never realize it until one is gone. That is what happened last week and as I was getting ready for bed, I sadly placed my remaining singleton in the earring graveyard with others that I continue to keep in hopes of one day finding their mate. It never happens. The next morning, I trekked my snowy yard...yes, 36-40" depths of snow, on the narrow paths the Labs have created snaked in a labyrinth on the hill and along the fence line.(barely visible)
I can never keep up with the dogs with cleanup so I do not know why I bother to try but I still make a feeble effort with my lavendar scented poop bags awkwardly placed on my gloved hand. I trudged along on the farthest trails from the house, knowing I needed to finish up and get dogs in before leaving for school. I don't know why I bent down to pick up a tiny piece of what I thought was poop. Like it would make a difference to bag that? But what I found was my earring! It was like winning the lottery. To find that earring..that I wasn't even searching for, in all that snowy expanse was a miracle!
It made my day. Sometimes it's the little things that make a difference.
